Job Summary

Pets Best seeks a Director, Business Development responsible for overseeing new business development and sales, primarily within the group and employee benefits channel, with potential expansion into other channels. The role involves building relationships with broker and technology distribution partners, acquiring new clients, and increasing sales from existing clients. It includes managing a small sales team, maintaining key relationships, and collaborating across teams to execute strategies.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute Pets Best’s employee benefits distribution strategy.
  2. Manage sales and cross-functional teams to form strategic partnerships.
  3. Increase group opportunities and close ratios by engaging with decision-makers and conducting strategic planning and meetings.
  4. Collaborate with marketing to support distribution efforts through trade shows and partnerships.
  5. Create persuasive marketing and sales materials tailored to partner needs.
  6. Track pipeline development and report on account performance.
  7. Address service issues raised by partners.
  8. Stay informed on industry trends and identify growth opportunities.
  9. Participate in meetings, trade shows, and travel as needed.
  10. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or 5+ years of sales experience in insurance or financial services.
  2. 2+ years of experience communicating with senior corporate leaders.
  3. Property & casualty insurance license or ability to obtain within 60 days.
  4. Ability to travel up to 50%.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with voluntary employee benefit products.
  2. 10+ years in insurance or voluntary benefits sales with proven results.
  3. Sales management and business development experience with senior organizational leaders.
  4. Strong industry knowledge and ability to present to C-level executives.
  5. Understanding of employee benefits distribution, payroll deduction, and billing cycles.
  6. Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  7. Proven negotiation and influence skills.
  8. Ability to work independently.
