Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to guide the Automation & Controls team and partner with engineering to drive continuous innovation and manufacturing optimization.

The role focuses on strategic capital planning, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering strong operational support to production facilities while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite, and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, GAF Business Systems and R&D to integrate automation across the company.
• Manage all financial responsibilities of the Automation and Controls team: capitalized projects, budget development, management and reporting.
• Coordinate with operations systems to identify and implement Automation and Controls software.
• Oversee engineering practices and drive documentation, standardization and safety.
