Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish and oversee long-range goals and strategic planningand implement policies and procedures to support these goals andplans.
- Ensure strict adherence to all NCAA by-laws, Lone StarConference regulations, and institutional compliance rules,policies and procedures, as well as ethical standards ofbehavior.
- Manage all administrative work related to NCAA Division IImembership.
- Ensure satisfactory academic performance of student-athletesalong with the physical, emotional, and social welfare ofstudent-athletes.
- Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athleteswhich includes providing education about and methods for discussingand resolving harassment, hazing, or discrimination.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise department staff andcoaches.
- Develop annual departmental budget and maintain budgetarycontrols to ensure adherence to budget including approving alltravel and expenditures by coaches and teams.
- Coordinate dissemination of information regarding all athleticactivities to media, University community, and community atlarge.
- Represent University at local, regional, and national level onathletic matters.
- Manage the accurate submission of requisitions, the payment ofinvoices, and the collection of payments (as applicable) asrequired by System and TAMIU policies and procedures.
- Responsible for implementing and complying with System policypertaining to the department.
- This position reports directly to the President and worksclosely with the VP for Enrollment Management and the VP forStudent Engagement.
- Implement strong community support programs, engage incommunity outreach and relationship building, and activelyparticipate in coordination of all fundraising efforts for theAthletics Department with Office of InstitutionalAdvancement.
- Oversee camp offerings by coaches to ensure adherence to allcamps and programs for minors regulations.

Minimum Requirements
- Education - Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
- Experience - Ten years of progressively responsiblemanagement experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may beconsidered.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Must possess superior oral and written communicationsskills.
- Must possess strong organizational, fiscal, management, andleadership skills.
Ability to:
- Proven ability to fundraise.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interacteffectively and professionally with the University community,community at large, and media.
- Must possess a commitment to student learning and success aswell as a dedication to students' growth, development, innovation,and improvement.
- Must possess sensitivity to students' academic, socio.economic, physical/learning disabilities.
- Must possess commitment and capabilities to abide by NCAAby-laws and Lone Star Conference regulations.
- Must possess a vision for the enhancement of athleticsprogram.
- Plan and organize work, as well as attention to detail.
- Multitask, prioritize, and work with deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality.
