Job Summary

The Athletics Assistant (Strength and Conditioning), under generalsupervision, assists with all phases of coaching an intercollegiateteam, including recruiting, scouting, game management andpromotions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coaches at the direction of the head coach and/or assistantcoach. Provides instruction, demonstration and teaching the sport'sdynamics to student-athletes to ensure maximum potential ofindividuals and the team as a whole
  • Recruits and scouts prospective student athletes from highschool, junior and community colleges
  • Makes recommendations to the head coach regarding potential ofstudent athlete
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned by Head Coach
  • Coordinates and arranges team travel involving coordinating andarranging competitive schedule, organizing and scheduling practiceessions, updating and maintaining student-athlete recruitingdatabases, updating and maintaining files (both hard copy andvideo) of opponents
  • Develops and distributes scouting reports on opponents,analyzing opponents' film and scouting reports, assisting in therequisitioning and purchasing of uniforms and equipment, andorganizing on-campus visits by prospective student-athletes (bothofficial and unofficial)
  • Assists with summer camps
  • Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with allapplicable NCAA, Conference and University rules andregulations
  • Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rulesand regulations concerning student-athlete conduct, appearance,road games, punctuality and other areas
Education and Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • No previous experience required.
  • May not be currently enrolled undergraduate student at TexasA&M International University.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • General knowledge of NCAA rules.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and databaseprograms.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Oraland written communication skills.

Pay of Rate

$14.43/hr for up to 19 hours weekly
