Job summary

Mercury Insurance Services, LLC is seeking a Director to lead the Cross-Line AI/ML Research & Capability team within Product R&D. This role shapes how research is done across lines of business by building reusable capabilities and modernizing workflows, applying AI to accelerate insight generation and product innovation.

The ideal candidate combines insurance and analytics judgment with hands-on AI expertise, can lead across functions, and translate emerging technologies into practical

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field.
• Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
• 8+ years in predictive modeling or analytics.
• 3+ years analytics in insurance/financial services.
• 5+ years leadership of cross-functional programs.
• Or equivalent education/experience.
• 10+ years predictive modeling/ML experience.
• 3+ years software development experience.
• 5+ years analytics in P&C insurance.
• 8+ years leadership of cross-functional programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the crossline strategy for AI/ML-enabled research capabilities across multiple lines.
• Build and lead a small team focused on reusable tooling, workflow modernization, and monitoring.
• Partner with Product R&D to identify high-value opportunities to improve research speed and scalability.
• Work with MTS, EDS, and partners to shape data pipelines and AI infrastructure.
• Design processes and guardrails for oversight and responsible AI use.
• Establish automated and observable research workflows including hypothesis generation.
• Guide adoption and change management across teams.
• Stay current on AI/ML developments and translate into practical Mercury applications.
• Coach and develop talent in a hybrid environment.
