Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Director of Data Science to lead the MSP Claims Data Science team in building ML/AI capabilities for Medical and Workers’ Compensation claims. This senior IC role will partner with Claims, Insights & Solutions, and Technology to set a roadmap and deliver foundational AI capabilities, with anticipation of building a team as the strategy matures.

Qualifications

• Expert-level ML/AI practitioner with track record of delivering measurable business value.
• Deep knowledge of insurance claims processes, especially medical/Workers’ Compensation.
• Experienced in Python development with OO design and engineering best practices.
• Demonstrated ML/AI Ops experience including model lifecycle management, experimentation, evaluation, monitoring, and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Claims and delivery teams to identify AI/ML opportunities and create a delivery roadmap.
• Design, build, and iterate on ML/Generative AI capabilities delivering value for adjusters.
• Architect end‑to‑end intelligent systems with ML, LLMs, and data pipelines to solve business problems.
• Apply software engineering and ML/AI Ops best practices including testing and monitoring.
