Job summary

Positron AI is seeking a Director of ASIC Design to drive the development of high-performance AI inference chips. You will lead the team from concept through production, shaping the silicon roadmap and ensuring optimal power, performance, and area for frontier AI workloads.

Based in the Austin area, this remote role requires strong leadership, deep ASIC expertise, and a track record of delivering tape-outs for 7nm/5nm-class processes.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 13+ years of experience in ASIC development with leadership experience
• Proven track record delivering ASIC/COT projects from concept to mass production
• Deep understanding of digital design, verification, physical design, and manufacturing processes
• Experience with AI accelerators, HPC, or data center chip designs
• Strong RTL design, synthesis, and timing closure knowledge
• Expertise in low-power design techniques and memory subsystem optimization
• Familiarity with Cadence, Synopsys, and Mentor Graphics tools
• Excellent leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Lead ASIC development team in design, verification, and implementation of AI inference hardware.
• Define architecture, microarchitecture, and roadmap aligned with AI workloads.
• Oversee RTL, physical design, verification, and validation across the full chip lifecycle.
