Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director, AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to lead AI engineering across the enterprise. You will oversee foundation model work, model optimization, governance, and observability while shaping the strategic roadmap for responsible AI across multiple products.

You will collaborate with researchers, engineers, and product managers to deploy scalable AI solutions, mentor teams, and drive innovation while ensuring regulatory and ethical standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in CS/AI/EE/CE with 6–8+ years of AI/ML experience
• 3+ years of people leadership experience
• Experience leading multi-team AI platforms and governance

Responsibilities

• Lead AI engineering teams to deliver enterprise AI products
• Oversee design, training, deployment, and monitoring of AI systems
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI tech
• Drive state-of-the-art foundation model optimization for performance and cost
• Contribute to long-term AI platform strategy and governance
