Capital One is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to help build scalable AI systems and responsible AI practices. Remote-eligible role with collaboration across engineering, research, and product teams to deliver AI-powered products for customers and associates.

You will work on foundation model training, large language model inference, and modern AI tooling, while advancing enterprise-wide architecture and governance for AI systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in CS/AI/EE/CE with 6+ years AI/ML experience.
8+ years of programming experience in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech like AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch.
Invent optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency, and throughput.
Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.
Set enterprise-wide AI architecture direction and standards.
Own design and integration of model routing, caching, and orchestration systems.
Champion responsible AI principles across system design.
Drive internal education and dissemination of best practices.
