Job summary

Fitch is seeking a Director, Solutions Architecture to be based in our New York office. You will partner with engineering squads across your line of business to design scalable backend systems, navigate architecture standards, and contribute hands‑on to AI‑driven development and governance tooling.

This role is hands‑on, individual contributor‑style, focused on influence, expertise, and relationship building rather than direct reports.

Qualifications

• A strong track record designing and evolving backend/distributed systems architecture, including data modeling and event‑driven design.
• Hands‑On experience building AI agents, working with LLMs, and applying agentic patterns to production workflows.
• Ability to drive adoption across teams without direct authority — earning buy‑in through trust and results.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct architecture guidance to the engineering squads in your line of business— solution design and pattern selection.
• Support ARB and JAD sessions to stress‑test designs before formal reviews.
• Build agents powering technology evaluation, PR review, standards enforcement, and ARB submission support.
• Translate architecture principles into concrete, actionable guidance for engineers building real systems.
• Prototype working examples of patterns to establish credibility before adoption.
• Collaborate with engineering leads to tailor guidance to their context.
• Champion AI‑based development, coding assistants, and agentic workflows to improve productivity.
• Identify and reduce technical debt by mapping dependencies and modernization needs.
• Automate upgrades and modernization to keep systems current with low effort.
• Own reference architectures and a well‑documented reference code base.
