Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden seeks a Director of Learning Operations to lead staff learning and professional development across the organization. You will design programs, oversee grant-funded initiatives, and integrate AI-enabled learning strategies to personalize training and drive data-informed decisions.

Reporting to the AVP for Employee and Volunteer Engagement, you will supervise part-time staff, align learning with NYBG’s strategy, manage the learning calendar, LMS, and evaluation tools,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with managerial experience in L&D.
• Experience supervising staff and delivering projects on time.
• Experience managing grant-funded L&D projects with budgets and reporting.
• Ability to oversee accessible instructional design and LMS content delivery and produce clear reports.
• Knowledge of AI in learning, governance, ethics, and implementation.
• Commitment to ongoing professional learning and networks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Learning and Development part-time team members and ensure deliverables.
• Translate learning priorities into scalable programs across NYBG.
• Lead grant-funded workforce development projects within approved scope and budget.
• Oversee learning design, delivery, and improvement; manage LMS publishing and content review.
• Oversee departmental microgrant program and final showcases.
• Assess learning needs and evaluate programs using surveys and data.
• Drive AI integration and ethics in learning operations.
• Oversee the LMS for training delivery, tracking, and reporting.
• Advise managers on development plans and mentoring opportunities.
• Advance IDEA through inclusive learning and accessibility training.
• Manage the learning operations budget and grant expenditures.
• Pursue grants and partnerships to expand learning methods.
