Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden is seeking an Associate Director of Professional Learning and an Associate VP for Children's Education to lead the creation, development, and management of the Professional Learning Program for teachers and educators. You will facilitate workshops, develop standards-aligned materials, and oversee partnerships with Urban Advantage and other networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in environmental education, education, plant science, or related area.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Must be an engaging and effective educator of teachers/educators in both informal and/or formal learning environments.
• Ability to speak with authority and knowledge about how teachers learn and effective classroom practices.
• Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in related software and platforms for program development.
• Knowledge of NYC/NY State standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
• Ability to teach on some weekends.
• NYS Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Create, develop, implement, and manage the NYBG Professional Learning Program.
• Facilitate workshops and institutes in-person, online, or hybrid.
• Hire and train per-diem educators for programs.
• Develop lesson plans and materials aligned to standards (NGSS).
• Oversee purchasing, budgets, contracts, invoicing, and attendance data.
• Represent the program in collaborations and school visits.
• Coordinate learning series for staff across departments.
• Evaluate programs and participate in program evaluation with partners.
