Job summary

Pensacola State College is seeking a Director of ADA Services to lead the campus-wide program supporting students with disabilities. You will oversee intake, documentation review, accommodation arrangements, and privacy of records, reporting to the Dean of Students.

Responsibilities include budget management, staff supervision, training for faculty and staff, and collaboration with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Testing Centers, and other departments to ensure accessible services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to special education or rehabilitation services with three years of professional experience in an academic environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding working with students with disabilities (ADA/504).
  • Successful results of a criminal background check required.

Job Description:

The Director, ADA Services assists the College administration indetermining student eligibility for services and arranging forreasonable accommodations to be provided as needed pursuant to theAmericans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of theRehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) and other laws related tosupport of students with disabilities. Reports to the Dean ofStudents.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Directs all activities of the college-wide ADA ServicesDepartment, including intake of students requesting assistance,review of medical documentation supporting a request for reasonableaccommodations, and arranging for such accommodations to beprovided by ADA Services or other departments of the College asnecessary.
  • Keeps abreast of legislation affecting students withdisabilities, including, but not limited to, the ADA and Section504 regulations.
  • Maintains security measures to protect the privacy of studentmedical and disability related records and information kept withinthe Student Resource Center for ADA Services office.
  • Prepares and manages the departmental budget.
  • Provides in-service training programs to faculty andadministrators.
  • Supervises support staff and service personnel serving studentswith disabilities.
  • Works collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs,Testing Centers, and other College departments to address the needsand accommodations of students registered with ADA Services.
  • Assists with accessibility reviews of the website and otheritems, as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduation with a bachelor's degreein special education, rehabilitative services, education,psychology, or counseling from an institution that holdsaccreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education andapproved by the College and three years of professional experiencein an academic/school environment. Knowledge of federal and stateregulations regarding working with students with disabilities.Successful results of a criminal background check arerequired.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibilityrequirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of §435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A FloridaDepartment of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition ofemployment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverseinformation contained in the background investigation at the timeof submitting the employment application will be disqualified fromemployment

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. Thisposition must be able to lift at least 25 pounds to perform jobduties of the campus food pantries. Reasonable accommodations maybe made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform theessential functions.

Salary Range: $52,800.00-$59,800.00
