Job summary

Duck River Electric Membership Corporation in Pembroke, NC is seeking a Directional Drilling Technician to create new paths for underground electrical power lines and fiber optic cables.

You will operate drilling equipment, review staking sheets, ensure safety, and perform standby duties for outages. The role requires 5–8 years of horizontal directional drilling experience and strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of horizontal directional drilling operation experience.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
• Time management skills required.
• Ability to follow Horizontal Directional Drilling Standards and interpret plans/maps.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Journeyman style credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs standby duties for power restoration during/after normal business hours, holidays and weekends.
• Drill paths for underground infrastructure including electrical lines and fiber optic lines.
• Review staking sheets and amend/redline deviations from the plan.
• Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment, locate equipment, and vacuum system.
• Observe safety procedures to prevent damage to property; monitor gauges and perform pre/post-job inspections.
• Utilize vacuum and locating equipment to keep job sites clear and safe.
