Job summary

MasTec Utility Services in Wilmington, NC, is seeking a Directional Drill Operator/Locator to safely operate directional drilling equipment and locate utilities. You will work with the Line team to ensure bore accuracy and avoid underground utilities during underground placements.

The role requires a CDL Class A with tanker endorsement and OSHA 10 certification, plus a minimum of one year in related fieldwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of relevant experience.
• CDL Class A driver's license with tanker endorsement.
• OSHA 10 Certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate the drill rig safely and efficiently.
• Pothole utilities that will be crossed during the bore shot.
• Verify existing utilities.
• Fill water tanks with water and mix chemicals for boring per ground conditions.
• Locate the drill head to avoid hitting utilities at the correct depth.
• Hook up swivel, reamer, and pipe for bore shots.
• Walk out bore path before starting bore shot to plan around utilities.
• Inspect and maintain drilling equipment and mixing unit.
• Ensure safety and compliance with site procedures.
