Job summary

Lumbee-River-EM in Kentucky is seeking a Directional Drilling Technician to create paths for underground electrical and fiber optic lines. The role involves drilling, reviewing staking sheets, and ensuring safe drilling practices on active sites.

You will perform standby duties for power restoration, operate HDD equipment, and verify clear paths with underground locating tools, following OSHA safety standards and using a vacuum system for site cleanliness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• 5-8 years of horizontal directional drilling operation experience is required.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
• Must follow HDD standards and interpret drilling plans and maps.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• First aid knowledge is required.
• CDL Class A license is required upon hire.
• Electrical Line Installer/Repair certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs standby duties for power restoration during/after hours, holidays and weekends.
• Drill paths for underground infrastructure including electrical lines and fiber optic cables.
• Review staking sheets and amend them when deviations occur.
• Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment and locate equipment.
• Follow observation techniques to avoid damage to property and monitor gauges.
• Utilize vacuum system to remove debris from job sites.
• Utilize underground locating equipment to confirm clear boring paths before starting.
