The New York Foundling is hiring a Direct Support Professional in New York, NY. You will empower individuals with developmental disabilities, promote independence, and support daily living tasks in a caring, structured setting.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, document progress, and help participants access community activities, health services, and education opportunities while upholding safety and dignity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; experience in direct care or human services preferred.
• Valid NY Driver's License with 6 months of experience and 6 or fewer points.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support persons with developmental disabilities.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred; additional training in developmental disabilities or healthcare a plus.
• Commitment to providing compassionate care and promoting dignity and respect for individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to respond effectively to changing needs and environments, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain confidentiality, uphold ethical standards, and adhere to agency policies and procedures.

Responsabilités

• Implement and monitor varying care plans including assessments, life plans, and behavior plans.
• Provide direct care and assistance with daily living activities, medication administration, and transportation.
• Facilitate community outings, recreational activities, and social events to promote inclusion.
• Utilize person-centered approaches and document progress; ensure safety and well-being.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, therapists, and family members to develop holistic plans.
• Advocate for rights and choices, promoting self-advocacy and empowerment; mandated reporter as required.
• Maintain accurate records, daily progress notes, and incident reports per agency policy.
