Job summary

The New York Foundling seeks a Direct Support Professional to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives. You will provide personalized support, promote independence, and help with daily living activities in a compassionate, compliant setting.

Responsibilities include implementing care plans, documenting progress, facilitating community activities, administering medications as directed, and collaborating with healthcare teams and families to ensure holistic care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; direct care or human services experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with up to 6 points in NY/NJ/CT/PA.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; patient and empathetic.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred; additional training is a plus.
• Commitment to compassionate care and dignity for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor plans of care, including life plans and behavior plans.
• Provide direct care: daily living activities, hygiene, meals, medication administration, transport.
• Facilitate community outings and social events to promote inclusion.
• Record progress notes and incidents; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams and families to develop care plans.
• Advocate for rights and self-advocacy; comply with policies and reporting.
