Job summary

The New York Foundling in New York, NY is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide safe, person-centered care to adults with developmental disabilities in our residential programs. You will support daily living activities, monitor well-being, and help individuals participate in community activities.

Role requires adherence to care plans, documentation of progress, and cooperation with clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Valid NY/NJ/CT/PA driver's license with 6 points or less.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supervision, health and safety of individuals; implement plan of protective oversight.
• Advocate for individuals in medical appointments, church, recreation activities, etc.
• Ensure individual’s plan of care is implemented.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Assist in daily living skills and maintain facility per OPWDD/COA standards.
• Facilitate learning and skill training in fire safety.
• Complete daily progress notes and logs.
• Maintain CPR/first aid certifications and other required trainings.
• Transport and escort individuals to activities and appointments.
