Job summary

Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD) is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional for the morning shift in Sayville, NY. You will work in a residential setting helping adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities become more self-sufficient and achieve personal goals.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid NYS driver’s license, and are willing to obtain AMAP and SCIP certifications within six months.

Qualifications

• Clean, valid NYS Driver’s license.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Some experience with intellectually/developmentally disabled population preferred; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Help residents achieve/exceed their personal goals.
• Provide structure and emotional support.
• Assist in resolving behavioral issues.
• Help with personal hygiene needs.
• Transport participants to medical appointments and recreation activities using Agency vehicles.

In this position, you will:

• Help residents achieve/exceed their personal goals

• Transport program participants to and from medical appointments and recreation activities using Agency vehicles

We require:

• Clean, valid NYS Driver’s license
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Some experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population preferred; but will train. Cooking and light housekeeping may be required.
• Must obtain and maintain AMAP (within six months of hire) and SCIP certifications
• Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus

Salary ranges from 17.00 - 18.00

Some programs/locations may have a differential in addition to the hourly rate.
