Job summary

Whole Life is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to support adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Connecticut. You will help with daily living activities, promote independence, and support clients to participate in community activities.

The role emphasizes building trusting relationships with clients and families, ensuring safety, dignity, and well-being, with training and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school diploma or GED required.
• Proof of valid driver’s license, Social Security card, birth certificate, or passport.
• Background check, safe driving record, and Abuse Registry Check required; post-hire fitness and TB test.
• Must stand, move, twist, bend, kneel, reach, lift and walk; some lifts up to 100 lbs.
• Must document care in English and communicate with clients and staff in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal prep.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and support medical appointments.
• Ensure a clean, safe living environment through light housekeeping and laundry.
• Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote independence.
• Use mobility equipment with proper techniques.
• Document daily activities, observations, and incidents accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Implement individualized care plans.
