Legacy Treatment Services is seeking Direct Support Professionals to work in a group home for adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will relate to Consumers, participate in academic events, and help them learn independence through their Behavior Support Plan.

You will teach life skills, support daily activities, and use positive reinforcement and crisis-de-escalation skills as needed. Weekend shifts and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus three years of experience working with children/adolescents.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport with adolescents and families.
• Experience with crisis de-escalation and safety planning is desirable.

Aufgaben

• Relate with adolescents and build rapport, understanding their experiences.
• Attend academic events, community activities, and medical visits with Consumers.
• Teach daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and budgeting.
• Use positive reinforcement and crisis de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Assist with medication administration and daily self-care tasks.
• Work weekends; participate in full-time or part-time schedules; support program goals.

This position pays a $2.00 per hour shift differential for hours worked from 11pm Friday through 11pm Sunday for both FT and PT employees.This program is a group home in a community setting for adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for direct support professionals to make a positive difference with the Consumers in the program. The goal of each Consumer is to learn independence, which is driven by their Behavior Support Plan. You will work within a diverse population within the special needs community and their families. On a daily basis, you can expect to:Relate with adolescents, understand what they are going through in their lives and build rapportAttend and accompany academic events, shopping, community integration, socialization skills, family reunification, and medical visitsShow adolescents that they can change their lives on their own by giving them directionUse positive reinforcement and other techniques to keep adolescents on the right track and use crisis de-escalation skills when necessaryAssist in teaching life skills, such as cooking, laundry, chores and cleaningGet moving and go outside to play basketball, tennis, hiking, bean bag toss and other activitiesLead by example and have a positive mindsetAssist youth with bathing, feeding, grooming and other daily living skillsAssist with medication administrationHours:Full-time and part-time positions are available.
