Legacy Treatment Services Group is seeking Direct Support Professionals for The Shafia Program in a community setting for adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Middletown Township, NJ. The role focuses on building rapport, teaching life skills, and supporting daily activities with a positive and structured approach.

The position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities with a weekend shift requirement.

Qualifications

• This position requires either a Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus three years of experience working with children/adolescents.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.
• CPR, First Aid, Nurtured Heart, Safe Crisis Management and Ukeru training provided by Legacy.

Responsibilities

• Relate with adolescents, build rapport and attend academic events, shopping, and medical visits.
• Encourage independence and life skills such as cooking, laundry, chores and cleaning.
• Use positive reinforcement and crisis de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Supervise activities; assist with medication administration and daily living tasks.
• Lead youth toward family reunification and community integration.

This position pays a $2.00 per hour shift differential for hours worked from 11pm Friday through 11pm Sunday for both FT and PT employees.The Shafia Program is a group home in a community setting for adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for direct support professionals to make a positive difference with the Consumers in the program. The goal of each Consumer is to learn independence, which is driven by their Behavior Support Plan. You will work within a diverse population within the special needs community and their families. On a daily basis, you can expect to:Relate with adolescents, understand what they are going through in their lives and build rapportAttend and accompany academic events, shopping, community integration, socialization skills, family reunification, and medical visitsShow adolescents that they can change their lives on their own by giving them directionUse positive reinforcement and other techniques to keep adolescents on the right track and use crisis de-escalation skills when necessaryAssist in teaching life skills, such as cooking, laundry, chores and cleaningGet moving and go outside to play basketball, tennis, hiking, bean bag toss and other activitiesLead by example and have a positive mindsetAssist youth with bathing, feeding, grooming and other daily living skillsAssist with medication administrationHours:Full-time and part-time positions are available.
