Job summary

YAI in New York is hiring a Direct Support Professional to work in Queens, providing direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across various settings.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, teamwork, participation in treatment planning, and helping people live, love, work, and learn in their communities. All qualified applicants receive consideration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Work experience in the I/DD field is a plus.
• Valid NY Driver’s License may be required.
• Tuberculosis test is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care services including counseling and training in ADLs.
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of the people we support.
• Assist with intimate and personal care as needed.
• Maintain positive relationships and participate in treatment planning.
• Complete required trainings (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving).
• Complete documentation for compliance and billing.
• Train and present to team, and take on additional tasks as needed.
• Facilitate community integration and social activities.
