Job summary

YAI in New Jersey seeks dedicated Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with I/DD in maximizing independence and quality of life. You will provide compassionate supervision, implement BSPs/ISPs, and support daily living activities, health and safety, and community engagement in a structured setting.

Responsibilities include medication administration, scheduling appointments, transportation, and collaboration with families and clinicians to ensure consistent, respectful care aligned

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• HS diploma or educational equivalent; and
• Must hold or obtain and maintain a valid Driver’s License with no more than five points.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands including lifting and moving individuals as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills for billing and documentation.
• Commitment to person-centered support for individuals with I/DD.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to maximize strengths, interests, and abilities while upholding rights.
• Support personal goals, encourage socializing, and facilitate community connections.
• Supervise, protect, and care for individuals; enforce program guidelines and safety.
• Provide supervision, crisis management, and implement Behavior Support Plans as needed.
• Deliver person-centered plans, ISP, BSP, and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Assist with ADLs, medication administration, scheduling medical appointments, and transportation.
• Maintain logs, progress notes, and communicate with circles of support and clinical leadership.
• Participate in team meetings and complete trainings and certifications.
