Job summary

YAI is looking for dedicated individuals in New Jersey to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). You will assist individuals in maximizing their strengths and interests while providing care, supervision, and support in various settings.

The ideal candidate will possess effective communication skills, a High School diploma, and a strong enthusiasm for working with individuals with disabilities. A valid driver’s license is essential. Compensation starts at $27.

Qualifications

• Must hold or obtain certifications like CPR/First Aid within 120 days of appointment.
• Ability to handle various bodily fluids.
• Ability to lift/move individuals with mechanical lifts or equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in maximizing strengths and interests.
• Facilitate activities that provide social connections.
• Ensure health and safety by providing supervision.

Skills

Effective written and oral communication skills

Ability to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)

Basic computer skills

Enthusiasm for working with people with I/DD

Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Driver’s License with no more than five points

Computer systems (e.g. Workday)
