Job summary

YAI is seeking dedicated Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in New Jersey. The role emphasizes person‑centered supports, safety, and collaboration with families and healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License with no more than five points.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands including lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Certifications: CPR/First Aid, NJ Medication Administration, Positive Behavior Supports within 120 days.
• Strong communication and patience when supporting individuals with I/DD.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in maximizing strengths and forming positive relationships.
• Support goal achievement and quality of life via person‑centered plans.
• Supervise, protect, and provide care to individuals in accordance with program guidelines.
• Ensure health, safety, and crisis management per policies and regulations.
• Provide support across settings according to individualized service and behavior plans.
• Administer medications as prescribed and manage related inventories.
• Coordinate medical appointments and documentation for billing and compliance.
• Communicate with families, circles of support, and external providers as directed.
• Attend team meetings and participate in plan development and training.

Education

HS diploma or equivalent

CPR/First Aid certification
