Job summary

HopeTree Family Services in Glen Allen, VA seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The DSP provides daily living support, assists with activities, and helps maximize growth across physical, emotional, social, and cognitive domains.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED; experience in mental health or human services is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day organization and implementation of activities that promote a positive environment for individuals served.
Plans activities in partnership with supervisor to support independent living and community inclusion.
Communicates professionally with family members, community partners, and other service providers.
Completes required documentation including progress notes and records of support services.
Assists with activities of daily living and supports medical care instructions as directed.
Maintains the program location, ensures safety, and reports maintenance needs in a timely manner.
Participates in medication administration support and related documentation as trained.
Adheres to agency policies and ethics, including safeguarding participant funds and reporting concerns.
