Devereux New Jersey is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help adults with autism and developmental disabilities gain independence and build life skills. You will join a collaborative team, receive ongoing training and supervisory support, and participate in meaningful community-based activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid, non-provisional driver’s license required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Two-week paid orientation training, hybrid and in person.
• Ability to respond calmly with good judgment and seek support when needed.
• Empathy, reliability and a team-oriented approach to supporting adults with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Professionals may work in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
• Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in our care.
• Coach and assist individuals with daily living skills such as food prep, cooking, cleaning and shopping.
• Support planning, implementation and documentation of programs addressing social, emotional, physical and personal needs.
• Plan and participate in community-based employment, volunteering, and outings to promote independence.
• Build positive relationships with family members to support thriving.Safely transporting individuals to appointments and activities.
