Job summary

Devereux New Jersey is hiring Direct Support Professionals to support adults with autism and developmental disabilities in residential or day program settings. You will help build daily living skills, promote independence, and participate in community activities under supervision.

Starting pay is $20.42 per hour with increases based on education and experience. Devereux offers extensive time off, affordable health benefits after 30 days, and student loan reimbursement through ASCEND to support

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid, non-provisional driver's license required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Two-week paid orientation (hybrid and in person).
• Sound judgment and the ability to respond calmly, make thoughtful decisions, and know when to ask for support.
• Empathy, reliability, and a team-oriented approach to supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Professionals may work in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
• Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in our care.
• Coach and assist individuals as they build daily living skills, including food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
• Support the planning, implementation, and documentation of programs addressing each individual's needs.
• Plan and participate in community-based employment, day program activities, and outings to promote involvement and independence.
• Build positive relationships with individuals’ family members to support their well-being.
• Safely transporting individuals to appointments, day programs, and scheduled activities.
