Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New Jersey is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help adults with autism and developmental disabilities build independence, daily living skills, and community involvement.

Starting pay is $20.42 per hour, with increases based on education and experience. Benefits begin after 30 days, and the role offers growth opportunities within a supportive team. You will receive training, supervision, and a chance to make a meaningful difference every day.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Valid non-provisional driver’s license (required).
• Age 18 or older (required).
• Two-week paid orientation (hybrid/in-person).
• Good judgment and calm decision-making.
• Empathy, reliability, and teamwork with adults with autism/ID.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Professionals may work in residential homes or day programs.
• Ensure safety, health, and well-being of individuals in care.
• Help individuals build daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, shopping).
• Assist with program planning, implementation, and documentation.
• Support community-based employment, volunteering, and outings.
• Build relationships with family members to promote thriving.
• Transport individuals safely to appointments and activities.
