Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with IDD in their homes and communities in Monroe, NC. The role involves helping with daily living tasks, meal prep, personal care, and employment support under supervision.

This part-time position offers flexible schedules, on-the-job training, and opportunities to develop essential caregiving skills. A reliable vehicle and insurance are required for client transport and community outings.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level; on-the-job training provided.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Knowledge of basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.
  • Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must.
  • DSPs must have reliable transportation and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care in the home and community where the person lives.
  • Assist with daily tasks such as housekeeping, meal prep, cooking, and cleaning; personal care like bathing and dressing; and employment support.
  • You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
  • Help plan and organize the client’s schedule.
  • Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health record.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Location: Monroe, North Carolina
Compensation: $15.00/hour
Shifts Available
Option 1: Rotating Part-Time Overnight Schedule
  • Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (1)
  • Rotation: 3 days one week, 4 days the next
  • Weekend Requirement: Works every other weekend
Option 2: Part-Time Every-Other-Weekend Schedule (2)
  • Hours: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Days: Every other Saturday and Sunday
Option 3: Part-Time-Hours 7:00AM-11:00 AM Monday-Friday
Option 4: Part Time-Hours 7:00AM-3:00PM Every Other Saturday and Sunday
Option 6: Full Time-Hours -2:00PM-11:00PM with rotating weekends
Option 7: Part Time-Hours-7:00AM-3:00IPM Every Friday Saturday and Sunday
Option 8: Part Time-Hours-3:00PM-11:00PM Every Friday Saturday and Sunday
Your Role in Our Mission
  • You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
  • Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
  • You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
  • Help plan and organize their schedule.
  • Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
