Job summary

The Department for Persons with Disabilities is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Sparta Township, NJ. This 17.5-hour-per-week role offers direct care in group homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including daily living support, transportation, and medication assistance.

You will document services daily and collaborate with a caring team to promote residents’ health, safety and well-being. HS diploma and a valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus
• Must be able to meet physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of residents in the group home.
• Assist with bathing, toileting and daily living activities; supervise cleaning, cooking and life skills as needed.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs and community activities using agency vehicles.
• Maintain daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities.
