Job summary

The New York Foundling is hiring a Direct Support Professional in New York to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives. You will provide personalized support, assist with daily activities, and help them participate in community activities.

Responsibilities include implementing care plans, documenting progress, and coordinating with healthcare teams to ensure safety and holistic support. A high school diploma is required, with CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in direct care or human services preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with 6 months experience and 6 or less points.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.
• Commitment to safety and ability to adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Empower persons with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives with personalized support.
• Implement and monitor plans of care and document progress.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal prep, and transportation.
• Facilitate community outings and social activities to promote inclusion.
• Provide supervision and support and monitor health and safety needs.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, therapists, and family.
