Job summary

Waypoint Maine, Inc. seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support members with intellectual and other disabilities. The DSP will model healthy relationships, enable effective communication, and promote independence while fostering growth and self-determination.

The position requires maintaining a safe, respectful environment across residences and community settings. You will work in teams, interact with families/guardians, and uphold Waypoint’s policies and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must have desire to work with individuals with intellectual and other disabilities.
• Willingness to implement positive behavior support and structured activities.
• Excellent communication with members, families, coworkers and other professionals.

Responsibilities

• Develop rapport with residents and cultivate a safe, supportive relationship.
• Provide support during skills-building activities and follow individual treatment plans.
• Encourage daily living activities including meals, hygiene, and a clean environment.
• Assist with transportation in approved vehicles for activities or appointments.
• Record progress notes and update ISP, treatment and positive support plans daily.
• Follow safety, privacy, and confidentiality policies; report to House Manager as needed.
• Attend required staff meetings and trainings and maintain certifications.
