Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas is seeking a Direct Support Professional for the NVCLC Featherstone program, Saturday and Sunday 7A-3P. You will assist people with intellectual or developmental disabilities to learn daily living skills and participate in community life.

Under supervision, you will support safety, document activities, follow person-centered plans, and help with meals, transportation, and household tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• Medication administration certification preferred but not required.
• Pass background checks and drug screening requirements.
• Written and verbal communication skills are clear and professional.
• Ability to document activities accurately in electronic records.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to people living in their home.
• Assist with daily living tasks and meal preparation.
• Monitor and assist with medication administration as prescribed.
• Document services and activities in the electronic case management system.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in the Person-Centered Planning Team.
