Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas is hiring a Direct Support Professional for NVCLC - Featherstone in Woodbridge, VA. This part-time overnight role provides direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities under supervision, following PCP plans and promoting community integration.

You will support daily living activities, assist with medication administration as needed, and document care in electronic records, while maintaining safety and person-centered

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year experience in intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
• Medication administration certification preferred.
• Must pass background checks and trainings.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Bilingual abilities a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides supports per the Person-Centered Planning Team and coordinates with families and other providers.
• Teaches and assists with daily living tasks (cleaning, meals, budgets, shopping).
• Assists individuals to develop skills per their PCP plan.
• May assist with medication administration and monitoring as prescribed.
• May perform crisis response, CPR/First Aid as needed.
• Plans and participates in social activities with individuals.
• Participates in assessments and planning teams as appropriate.
• Transports individuals to appointments and activities.
• Documents all services in the EHR and client files daily.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
