Job summary

YAI is hiring a Direct Support Professional in Queens (Bayside IRA area) to provide direct care across a variety of settings, including homes, residences, day habilitation centers, and community activities. The DSP will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living, personal care, and community integration, while ensuring safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• For DSP 2 positions, 1-2 years work experience in the I/DD field.
• Valid NY State Driver’s License may be required depending upon the position.
• Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care services and support in ADLs and other needs.
• Ensure health, safety, and wellness of the people we support.
• Assist with intimate care functions as needed.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals and teams.
• Participate in development of treatment plans and crisis management.
• Complete mandatory trainings (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving).
• Meet OPWDD Core Competencies and document activities for compliance and billing.
• Facilitate community integration and social activities.
• Train/present to a team and take on additional tasks as needed.

Education
