Job summary

Halcyon is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for a part-time position in Dighton, MA. Responsibilities include hands-on, person-centered care and assisting five female residents in a residential home.

We offer an extensive benefits package and opportunities for training and advancement. A valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required; CPR/First Aid training provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred working with individuals who have autism and developmental disabilities, though training will be provided.
• Must read, write and speak English proficiently.
• Ability to intervene with clients and perform required safety techniques including lifting and transporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on, person-centered care and support for residents in a residential setting.
• Supervise and support five female residents with a team including Residential Manager.
• Engage in house cleaning, toileting/showering, job coaching, and documentation.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) help provide supervision and support to clients in our residential group home setting. We offer ongoing education, experiences and a supportive staff that emphasizes the individual's role in making choices to give them greater control of the direction of their life. You can be a part of a making a positive impact on their lives each day you come to work. You would provide hands-on, person-centered individualized care and support for our residents. DSPs/Residential Behavior Specialists work with a supportive team that includes the Residential Manager and others to support five female residents in our home.

Education, Experience and Skills Needed

• Minimum of 1 year of experiencepreferred working with individuals who have autism and developmental disabilities,but we will train a good candidate for the role!
• High School diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
• Must be able to read, write, and speak in English proficiently
• Ability to speak, see & hear clearly/audibly, as well as write legibly for documentation
• Basic computer skills
• Professional and respectful communication skills with clients and their families or other parties
• Ability to intervene with clients when needed to implement behavioral inventions including physical restraint, lifting and transporting in personal vehicle or company van
• General responsibilities as assigned such as house cleaning, assistance with toileting/showering, job coaching, role modeling, etc.
• Ability to sit, stand, lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, reach and/or move regularly
• Valid driver's license for at least 3 years, with a registered and insured vehicle
• First Aid/CPR Certification (We provide training if needed)
• MAP Certification for medication administration (We provide training if needed)
