Job summary

Cove Residential in Glocester, RI is seeking a Full Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join a dedicated team serving adults with autism and developmental disabilities. Youll provide hands-on, person-centered care in a residential setting and help residents make choices that increase independence and life control.

Openings include 1st shift 8:00AM-4:00PM and 3rd shift 12:00AM-8:00AM with a $1,000 sign-on bonus (pro-rated for part-time) and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience with individuals who have autism and developmental disabilities; 3+ years preferred.
• Must read, write, and speak in English proficiently.
• Valid drivers license for at least 3 years, with a registered and insured vehicle.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform daily tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support to clients in a residential group home setting.
• Deliver hands-on, person-centered care and support for clients.
• Collaborate with the Residential Manager, Assistant Manager, and other DSPs.
• Assist with transport, documentation, and routine house tasks as assigned.

E d ucation, Experience and Skills Needed:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience required working with individuals who have autism and developmental disabilities; 3+ years of experience preferred
• High School diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
• Must be able to read, write, and speak in English proficiently
• Ability to speak, see & hear clearly/audibly, as well as write legibly for documentation
• Basic computer skills
• Professional and respectful communication skills with clients and their families or other parties
• Ability to intervene with clients when needed to implement behavioral inventions including physical restraint, lifting and transporting in personal vehicle or company van
• General responsibilities as assigned such as house cleaning, assistance with toileting/showering, job coaching, role modeling, etc.
• Ability to sit, stand, lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, reach and/or move regularly
• Valid driver's license for at least 3 years, with a registered and insured vehicle
• CPR/First Aid Certification (We provide training if needed)
