Job summary
Cove Residential in North Smithfield, RI is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for full-time shifts: Friday 4:00PM–12:00AM, Saturday 8:00AM–4:00PM and 4:00PM–12:00AM (double), Sunday 8:00AM–4:00PM. Join our team to provide hands-on, person-centered care to adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with individuals who have autism and developmental disabilities; 3+ years preferred.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Basic computer skills and professional communication with clients and families.
- Ability to intervene with clients using behavioral strategies including physical restraint and transporting in a vehicle.
- Extensive in-house training and orientation provided.

DSPs/Residential Behavior Specialists work with a supportive team that includes the Residential Manager, Residential Assistant Manager, other DSPs and more to support five male adult residents in the home.

Education, Experience and Skills Needed:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience required working with individuals who have autism and developmental disabilities; 3+ years of experience preferred
- High School diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
- Must be able to read, write, and speak in English proficiently
- Ability to speak, see & hear clearly/audibly, as well as write legibly for documentation
- Basic computer skills
- Professional and respectful communication skills with clients and their families or other parties
- Ability to intervene with clients when needed to implement behavioral inventions including physical restraint, lifting and transporting in personal vehicle or company van
- General responsibilities as assigned such as house cleaning, assistance with toileting/showering, job coaching, role modeling, etc.
- Ability to sit, stand, lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, reach and/or move regularly
- Valid driver's license for at least 3 years, with a registered and insured vehicle
- CPR/First Aid Certification (We provide training if needed)
- Pro-ACT Certification (We provide training if needed)
- Medication Administration Training (We provide training)
- Extensive new employee orientation
- Initial and ongoing "in-house" training in a wide array of topic areas
