Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional / Caregiver (Float) in Lake/Porter County. This full-time role covers varied schedules days/evenings/weekends with travel between Lake and Porter counties, delivering hands-on support to individuals with disabilities and helping them live as independently as possible.

You will provide assistance with daily living, coordinate services, document progress, and participate in community activities.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older.
• Valid Driver's License (due to transporting persons served).
• Comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served.
• Some positions may require your own vehicle and auto liability insurance.
• Prior Caregiving Experience.
• Person-centered, patient, and kind.
• Dependable, adaptable, flexible.
• Observant and detail oriented.
• Positive role-model for others and able to work on a team.
• Committed to creating a respectful and collaborative environment.
• A successful background clearance is required as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with disabilities.
• Coordinate services for the individuals served, including finances, medical, recreation, and education.
• Ensure comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as moving, dressing, bathing, and personal hygiene.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties and maintain a safe living environment.
• Build relationships with persons served and teammates.
• Attend community events and activities.
• Transport persons served to appointments or activities outside the home.
• Empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
• Document progress, milestones, and action steps.

Travel- This role will be scheduled hours in both Lake and Porter county

Wage: $20.00/hr

What You Get To Do:

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregiver provides direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual & developmental, and physical disabilities. The ultimate goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect. Floats fill in at different programs around Lake and Porter County. The schedule is varied (days/evenings/weekends).

• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Coordinate services for the individuals served, including finance, medical, recreation, program services, family contact/involvement, education, and household management.
• Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, and more.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties, including cleaning, organizing, maintaining a safe and tidy living environment, and washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothes and linens.
• Build relationships with persons served and teammates.
• Attend special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games, and social events.
• Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home.
• Empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
• Document progress, milestones, and action steps.
