Job description
Overview Royal Crown Homes is looking for a dedicated Caregiver to join our team. These roles involve providing essential care and 1:1 or 1:2 support to individuals in their homes or in the community to ensure their well‑being and comfort. This may include all levels of direct care and paid training.
This position requires a valid Minnesota driver's license, reliable vehicle and auto insurance. Also be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts per month.
IHS With Training: After initial training is completed – Pay $17–$19/hr.
This community‑based service is focused on teaching and training individuals on independent living skills and community‑oriented skills.
Role Responsibilities
- Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1 or 1:2 service.
- Support individuals in mental health management through identifying and practicing coping skills, and exploring alternative methods.
- Teach and model community integration skills such as: self‑managing medications, managing personal finances, appropriate interpersonal interactions, using public transportation, completing tasks to maintain a home, and accessing community resources.
- Interact informally with individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate behavior.
- Participate in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events.
- Teach healthy living habits and develop the accompanying skills.
- Light housekeeping: vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, maintaining the kitchen, washing dishes, among other chores.
- Attend activities and places in the community, which may include appointments as needed.
- Plan and prepare meals.
- Wash laundry and linens.
- Make and change the bed.
- Care for pets and plants.
- Occasionally carry up to 50 lbs.
- Follow universal precautions rules to ensure the client’s safety 100% of the time.
- Maintain EVV compliance.
- Complete required 245D trainings upon hire and annually.
- Other duties listed in the person support plan.
- Meet bi‑weekly with supervisor to discuss schedule and consult about client issues.
IHS Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years or older.
- Pass a DHS background study.
- Maintain a high level of client confidentiality, adhering to all HIPAA regulations.
- Be willing to work in various environments that may include household pets, smoking, untidy living areas, and children.
- Work well with a diverse population, including people with low income, who struggle with substance abuse, criminal backgrounds, and those with developmental, mental, and physical disabilities.
- Record arrival and departure for every client visit via Electronic Visit Verification (EVV).
- Valid driver's license, full‑coverage insurance, and reliable vehicle.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Fluent in English.
- Trustworthy, reliable, and willing to work entire shifts fulfilling all obligations.
- Interpersonal skills: sensitivity and compassion toward clients.
