Job summary

Heartshare is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in New York to implement person-centered services and support individuals in activities and community inclusion, ensuring overall well-being.

Initial offers start at $19/hour with potential additional compensation after hire based on certifications, training, and performance, plus a bi-annual discretionary bonus as part of total compensation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or CNA strongly preferred but not required.
• One year or more experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Valid NYS driver's license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Implement individuals’ plans, consistent with their services, goals and outcomes.
• Support and teach individuals to develop skills, socialization and task participation.
• Promote inclusion in community activities according to individual needs and interests.
• Maintain positive communications with family, advocates, and service providers.
• Transport individuals or assist them in using public transportation as required.
• Plan recreational activities and outings and participate in PPT meetings.
