Job summary

BrightStar Care of Fort Wayne in Decatur, IN is hiring compassionate Direct Support Professionals to provide one-on-one care in clients’ homes. Pay ranges from $15.00–$18.00 per hour with weekly pay and both full-time and part-time opportunities.

You’ll help clients stay safe, comfortable, and independent, performing tasks such as bathing, meal prep, mobility support, and documentation with access to 24/7 on-call clinical leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CPR certification is required.
• Physical exam and negative TB test completed within 12 months.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Prepare meals and light housekeeping.
• Assist with errands and approved community activities.
• Support safe mobility, transfers, and positioning.
• Document care and communicate changes to the nurse case manager.
• Follow HIPAA and agency procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED


• At least one year of professional experience as a Direct Service Professional (DSP), Caregiver, Personal Care Assistant (PCA), or home care provider


• Current CPR certification


• Physical examination and negative TB test completed within the past 12 months


• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the position’s physical duties


• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen


• Dependable attendance and strong communication skills


• Accurate documentation and commitment to client privacy

What You’ll Do

Use your Direct Service Professional (DSP), Caregiver, or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) skills to support each client’s daily routines and independence.

• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene.


• Provide companionship and emotional support.


• Prepare meals and complete light housekeeping.


• Assist with errands and approved community activities.


• Support safe mobility, transfers, and positioning.


• Perform range-of-motion exercises according to the care plan.


• Follow each client’s individualized plan of care.


• Document care accurately and on time.


• Report changes in condition to the nurse case manager.


• Protect client dignity, personal choices, safety, and privacy.


• Follow HIPAA requirements and agency procedures.
