Job summary

Systems Unlimited, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Cedar Rapids to join our Supported Community Living team. This part-time position offers meaningful work helping people with disabilities build independence and daily living skills.

Responsibilities include assisting with transportation, personal care, meals, and community activities, plus documenting support and working with diverse needs. Driving record preferred; training provided.

• Provide encouragement and coaching to develop daily living skills and healthy habits.
• Document the support provided during each shift.
• Work with diverse needs including medical, behavioral, and mental health supports.

Key Responsibilities

As a DSP, you will join a team of others who support people with disabilities in their homes by providing:

• Assistance to allow people served to live more independently and happily in their homes by working with them to achieve their personal goals, e.g., healthy eating, exercising, or doing fun activities in their home
• Assist with day-to-day needs (transportation, cleaning, bathing, preparing meals, medical appointments, etc.)
• Go with people served in the community to do activities (Shopping, Special Olympics, movies, etc.)
• Provide encouragement and coaching to people who are working to develop daily living skills & healthy habits
• Write documentation about the support you provided during your shift
• Work with a variety of needs including medical, behavioral, and mental health supports.

Requirements

Driving record that is acceptable is preferred. People with a passion to help others encouraged to apply, we will provide the training and classes needed to provide excellent services.
