Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of MN in Brooklyn Center is seeking a Direct Support Professional to build meaningful relationships and provide person-centered care for individuals with identified needs.

You will assist with daily living activities, support community involvement, and advocate for rights, while contributing to a team-driven, inclusive workplace. A $1,500 hiring bonus is available and growth opportunities exist within LSS.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or formal education required.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• A valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene, meals, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for people’s rights, needs, and preferences.
• Monitor health and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
• Support a residential group home setting serving up to 4 people with identified needs.
• Work in a collaborative, mission-driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion.
