Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) is seeking Direct Support Professionals to build meaningful relationships and provide person-centered care in our residential settings. You’ll support up to 4 residents with identified needs and help with daily living activities, transportation, and community involvement.

No prior experience required; training is provided. A valid driver’s license, basic computer skills, and ability to read/write English are helpful.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or formal education required.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for people with identified needs’ rights, needs, and preferences.
• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs.
• Collaborative, mission‑driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion.
