Job summary

RHA Health Services is seeking a Direct Support Mentor in North Carolina to provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and related mental health and substance use challenges in residential and day settings. You will mentor Direct Support Employees and ensure adequate staff coverage.

The role emphasizes person-centered planning, assisting with daily living activities, promoting dignity and choice, and training new staff under supervision from the Residential

Qualifications

• Must have a High school diploma or GED.
• Prefer experience working with IDD individuals.
• At least one year of experience working with the population served.
• Must have a valid driver’s license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage.
• Must maintain proficiency in company sponsored training and certifications and privileging as required.
• Maintain CPR and First Aid certification, Med Tech and NCI certifications and other core competency training as required by future regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist people supported to identify personal outcomes that best suit their interests, cultural background, and desires for the future.
• Assist the Interdisciplinary Team in identifying supports needed for personal outcomes to be realized.
• Promote people supported goals, dignity, respect, independence, and quality of life.
• Provide opportunities for choice and encourage people supported to make decisions and exercise control.
• Reports incidents of abuse, neglect, or exploitation immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness of group home and vehicles; complete environmental checks and work orders.
• Support with meals, dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and activities.
• Help develop healthy personal and social habits.
• Assist with food prep and cleaning of residences and vocational areas.
• Assist in helping people identify valued social roles in community settings.
