The New York Foundling is seeking a Direct Support Professional to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live independently and with dignity. You will provide person-centered care, assist with daily living activities, and support social and life skills through structured activities.

You will document progress, collaborate with healthcare teams and families, and ensure safety and compliance with agency policies.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required; experience in direct care or human services preferred.
• Valid NY/NJ/CT/PA Driver’s License with 6 months of experience and 6 or less points.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support persons with developmental disabilities.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred; additional training in developmental disabilities, behavior management, or healthcare a plus.
• Commitment to providing compassionate care and promoting dignity and respect for individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to respond effectively to changing needs and environments, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain confidentiality, uphold ethical standards, and adhere to agency policies and procedures in all interactions and responsibilities.
• Demonstrated strong commitment to safety.

Responsabilidades

• Implement and monitor care plans, including assessments and life plans.
• Provide direct care and assistance with daily living activities, including personal hygiene and transportation.
• Facilitate community outings and social events to promote inclusion and independence.
• Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and monitor for adverse effects.
• Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and incident reports.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans.
• Advocate for the rights and choices of individuals with developmental disabilities; act as custodian and mandated reporter.
